The coulomb (symbol C) is the SI derived unit of electric charge.

1 C is equal to 1 As (ampère-second), which is the amount of charge carried by an electric current of 1 ampère for 1 second

1 C = 1 A · 1 s

Charge is also the product of voltage and capacitance

1 C = 1 V · 1 F

The name of this unit honors the French physicist Charles-Augustin de Coulomb (1736 - 1806).
